About the Flash Point Measure Device by using the Penske-Martens formula.

I’m TAZAKI the Researcher.

This time I would like to talk about the Flash Point Measure Device by using the Penske-Martens formula.
First of all, let’s start with the picture.,

This Measure Device is same as the Distillation Device explained last time which could measure the standard of the oil. And the flash point temperature that can be measured is starting from 2℃.
To measure, the window of the box contains the oil will open every 2℃ increase of oil. And this is starting from 0℃. When the window is open, the source of heat reaches there and checks whether it catches fire or not. Therefore, the minimum temperature to measure the flash point is 2℃.
However, our cracked oil contains much Naphtha. Therefore, it can catch fire even at 2℃ when we measure our cracked oil. In fact, we can adjust to measure the minus flush point, but the accessories for it are little expensive….
Then! I decided to use the 3 stages to measure the flash point. First, I measure the ratio of Naphtha by the gas chromatography, which I introduced before. And then, remove the naphtha by using the automatic distillation device. After that, I measure the oil from 2nd step by the flash point measure device. Everyone has done good job !
