This is the first business inspection tour organized by JETRO so their staff seemed to be a bit nervous, too.

At the beginning persons in charge of this event (from both side of Taiwan and Japan) gave speech by turns.

Each Japan company participant was given a certain time to make a presentation in the morning. After the presentation, many people wanted to exchange name cards with us. Our plant indeed drew a lot of attention. Besides we also got additional offers of business meeting so I was really thankful for the opportunity of being able to make a presentation.

Business meetings with individual companies were scheduled. Before the inspection tour started, we heard our time was fully booked (the maximum is 5). Now that we got additional offer, there were actually 6 for today. The business talk varied, such as being our agent, tapping into the Chinese market together, starting oil converting business instead of incineration.

We also met one Taiwanese manufacturer of agglomerators. They were very generous and shared part of all the samples with us. Thank you!

On the second day we paid a visit to CTCI. The company is located in Taipei downtown with SOGO department next door so it goes without saying that how great the location is.

Firstly we got a brief overview about CTCI and each Japan company participant had a chance to introduce its product and all of us received some feedbacks from the chairman. The manager from CTCI was familiar with pyrolysis and after I mentioned the technology we use is catalytic cracking, he showed a great interest and asked me to send more details to him later.

On the third day there was another presentation in Kaohsiung. This time I tried my best to speak fast so I was able to finish it within the timeframe. After my presentation we were suddenly called out by Jetro and realized happily that one of the audiences would like to talk to us face to face. (Actually when being called out, I thought it was because the host was furious at me for my speech was too long again. It indeed made me sweat like a pig!)

In the afternoon there were 7 individual business meetings scheduled. We were lucky to meet some experts of plastics and oil and to know better about the waste plastic industry in Taiwan. They also taught me that viscosity, density and calorific value are three keywords to judge the quality of the oil.

On the last day we visited China Hi-Ment Corporation (business includes environment, recycle, and shaft furnace). Later we went to the science park in Tainan. Although I know very well about the science park in HsinChu, this is my first time to know the one in Tainan is also developing so well.

When it comes to Taiwan, everybody thinks about the cheap and delicious food. And that’s why there is no reason we should go back to Japan without fully enjoying it! We walked around the famous night market and ate everything we wanted. You may not believe it but after I was totally full I still ate the whole fried chicken (taking back to the hotel as my bedtime snack)!.
